About Columbus

Columbus Ohio is not only the capital of Ohio, but it's also the largest city in the state, covering 212.6 total square miles. There are several distinctive neighborhoods in Columbus Ohio. To the north is the Short North area which holds art galleries, specialty shops, and pubs. To the South, is German Village, which has the distinction of being one of the largest historic districts that are privately owned. This part of the city is known for its nineteenth century brick cottages. Columbus Ohio has several noteworthy structures in the area such as the Wexner Center for the Arts, and the LeVeque Tower. The Wexner Center for the Arts is the international laboratory for the advancement and exploration of contemporary art. The LeVeque Tower is 555 feet and six inches tall, making it the tallest building in Columbus Ohio from 1927 to 1974, after which another building took over the title. The LeVaque Tower is an Art Deco designed building and is forty-seven stories tall. There are a variety of outdoor attractions for visitors to see in Columbus Ohio. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is famous for its collection of manatees, gorillas, kangaroos and Siberian tigers. Jack Hanna who has appeared on shows including The Tonight Show, is the zoo's director emeritus. The Inniswood Metro Gardens is an array of public gardens located in the Columbus and Franklin County Metropolitan Park District. This botanical garden was first established as the estate of Grace and Mary Innis. These gardens hold more than 2,000 species of plants. Columbus Ohio is a wonderful city to travel to.
